Downloading Atlantis from KSC image files Watching the landing of an Orbiter is very exciting.  Unfortunately, NASA allows very few people to the observation area.  Good areas to observe a landing include the bank of the Indian River in Titusville or the Causeway over the Banana River between Merritt Island and Cape Canaveral (also a good launch viewing spot).  Remember, though, you are viewing an object the size of a 727 jet at 5 to 8 miles distance.  But it still is a lot of fun to hear the twin sonic booms!
