The remains of the Columbia have been deposited in an empty office suite on the 16th floor of the Vehical Assembly Building at Launch Complex 39 in Kennedy Space Center, Florida. All items have been archived so that researchers may have access to them in the future. I viewed these items in the hanger by the Shuttle Landing Facility but was unable to have camera with me. All these images are used with the kind permission of collectSPACE.
Note: These images may seem graphic, but are intended to honor the STS-107 crew and the thousands of KSC employees who worked to retrieve these remains.

Original text entry:
The first orbiter to be launched in space, Columbia is seen here in the Transfer Aisle of the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center. It is being prepared for STS-94. Although the VAB is closed to the general public, orbiters like Columbia may be seen from the Visitor Complex bus tour by peeking in the open doorways of the VAB or the Orbiter Processing Facilities.
