NCC-1701
National Air and Space Museum, Washington D.C.
The iconic starship from the television series Star Trek, this is the actual film model of the U.S.S. Enterprise used for the opening and special effects shots. Note in the image at left that the port side is undetailed - this is where the ship was mounted. It was only fully filmed from the starboard side - any time you may see a port image the film was flipped. This display was very hard to photograph, as the glass case caused many reflections and the lighting caused much glare.
