Loading SRB from image file This static display of an SRM (Solid Rocket Motor) is an engineering model used to design the Space Shuttle boosters.  It is missing these items: 
  • Aft Skirt, which contains the nozzle and actuators (the nozzle pictured is a mockup)
  • Forward Segment, which would contain avionics
  • Nose cone, which would house the parachute retrieval system
