Editors note: The following entry in The Apollo Spacecraft: A Chronology
led John Charles and I to speculate that there were two different spacecraft involved. What I now conclude is this memo referred to Service Module SM-115 and Command Module CM-115a conjointly. I originally listed two seperate entries, one for 115 and one for 115a, but removed the 115 listing when restoration work conclusively proved the CM was 115a.
From On June 26, 1972, The Apollo Spacecraft: A Chronology, Volume IV, January 21, 1966-July 13, 1974:
"NASA Deputy Administrator George M. Low and Associate Administrator for Manned Space Flight Dale D. Myers met and decided there was no foreseeable mission for CSMs 115 and 115a; funds would not be authorized for any work on these spacecraft; and skills would not be retained specifically to work on them."
